Seaweed/Tang and Thyroid
Thyroid conditions are extremely common, especially in women. Females are up to 10 times more likely to develop thyroid conditions than males.
Luckily for us, seaweed/tang contains a healthy amount of iodine, which is essential for optimal thyroid function. Seaweed/tang actually contains the highest amount of iodine compared to any other food source. Although it grows all over the world, seaweed/tang from Lofoten grows in some of the purist (and coldest!) waters on earth.
The amount of iodine in seaweed/tang depends on the type of seaweed/tang, growing conditions and cooking methods.
